Easel amendment

There a number of issues to deal with before I take on this challenge that is in regarding to equipment and working practice. What easel? My small pochade box or my Jullian which is quite heavy and the wrong height for me. Thirdly maybe an easel and carry a paint box seperately?

To deal with one of the issues I have, that is the height of my Jullian Easel I have made some amendments. I took my portable Jullian Classic easel apart yesterday and made a new lower support for it to raise the canvas or board another 5 inches.  I took off the original and removed half of it lengthways before returning it for structural support.

This still gives a comfortable working height and room for a board at least 14 inches high which is ample.
The other issues with it are a work in progress. Much can be done weight wise by minimising the contents of the box and replacing glass by plastic etc.

I am still looking outside at the rain and thinking maybe the studio is right for me after all!! I have painted outside occasionally and recall climbing a large hill in the Preseli's on a windy, freezing November day and having to hold the easel with one hand while painting with the other, all the time while my red nose dripped none stop. Maybe I should move to a warmer climate?
